Hello Everyone! As you can see from today's title, today is our final post of this wonderful journey. We all learned so many things from this journey, and the lessons that we have learned will stick with us till the end. The OSEG Foundation is a great organization with goals in the future for the children and youth of Ottawa, and programs like the Girls On The Run and the RedBlacks Youth Mentorship program are great and innovative ideas that will ensure the education and development of our population.

Our meeting with Nancy Crump was very insightful, and it taught us many things about their programs and how they envision the children and youth of Ottawa post pandemic and in the next 10 years. The 5K Run for the Youth has really been great to raise awareness towards recreation for at-risk youth, it went well and was awesome to see people donate and contribute towards such a cause. The charity soccer match at the OZ Dome was AWESOME!!! We want to thank all that helped and attended to play, not only did we raise some money for the OSEG Foundation, but we got to build new relationships and bond over the beautiful game of soccer and recreation. Many asked “why did you guys do this?”, and we took the time to explain what it was for and what was the reason behind it and they were surprised and automatically fell in love with it.

This journey has a special meaning to us all, we have all played sports or have been to a recreation program. It has shaped us to be the people we are today, and we wouldn’t change a thing. It is a part of our lives and we would hopefully like to evolve the art of recreation in our own and individual ways. We also believe you can do the same, you reading this are an important part of this journey and we thank you for being part of it and standing with us, the children and youth, the future of this world.

THANK YOU!!!

Regards,

Algonquin College Recreation and Leisure Students

Welcome back everybody! This week was one of the most important weeks we have had yet as we put together a charity soccer match event to fundraise for the OSEG foundation. Our team and organization partnered up with Hassan who is the lead manager at the OZ Dome located in Kanata. Hassan was more than kind enough to donate one hour of free time in the OZ Dome where we would go on and host our charity soccer match event followed by our raffle for the vintage soccer jersey. On our and OSEG Foundation behalf we gifted Hassan a jersey as a token of our appreciation for the limits he went to in order to have us at the OZ Dome. It was short notice once we found out that Hassan was on board with the charity soccer match which only left us with one week to quickly spread awareness about our event which we did through social media platforms as well as word of mouth. The group came together as a team and persevered in the end recruiting 16+ people to donate and participate in our charity soccer match. It was such an amazing experience as we got to meet such amazing people raising a ton of money going above our goal of $500 and all for a good cause. Once the match was finished the raffle took place as Adam would pick the raffle winners Brady Moran and Kevin Lee who would go on to win some pretty sweet vintage soccer jerseys. Congratulations!

This week was an exciting week as Wil put the time and effort into creating a go fund me page for OSEG Foundation. We ran into a couple bumps in the road but we finally were able to launch the site and start collecting donations towards our cause. Each one of us would then go on and raise awareness to our go fund me page by posting it on our social media platforms. Some of the social media platforms we used to spread awareness to our go fund me page such as Facebook, Instagram, and snapchat along with word of mouth. We quickly noticed the generous donations people were making towards our page and would follow up by writing an appreciation post on our Instagram and snapchat stories in regards to them. Stay tuned for more!
